Thank you to everyone who helped support our fundraiser for Grayson Hughes.

As we were wrapping up the sales and preparing for the drawing one last client, Mike De La Cruz, bought $200.00 worth of tickets and put Grayson's name on the bulk of them.

With almost 1000 tickets to choose from, Grayson reached into the box and pulled a rare ticket for Mr. De La Cruz.

Mr. De La Cruz was actually still in the salon to receive his reward of over $3,200.00 in gifts that he was able to spread back out for Christmas.

In the true spirit of the Holiday's, Mike's last minute contribution pushed us over the goal of $5,000.00. It was a night filled with tears of joy that was topped off with the news that Grayson had also gone into remission.

It was a very Merry Christmas.

Our thanks to CBS for sharing Grayson's story and how the community of Frisco has rallied to support this family.

Why did you get into the beauty industry?

Originally wanted to treat burn victims. I took care of a beautiful little girl that had nearly 80% of her body burned. Individuals that suffer from a façade as such deserve to be able to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. As I became deeper involved in this field my passion grew stronger. I began to see a bit of that little girl in each client. There’s nothing more fulfilling than helping someone become more revitalized, confident, and feel just that much prettier.

How do you stay innovative and up-to-date in your industry?

My clients keep me up-to-date. Not only do I teach them something new, but they as well leave me with a little more knowledge.

What is your favorite skin tip?

How do you stay innovative and up-to-date in your industry?

I stay innovative be being involved. By keeping an open eye to textures and pattern. I am always intrigued by the choices people make in their style. Taking what's out there and making it their own.

Favorite hair care tip?

Blow drying from root to ends. Always moving in the direction of the hair cuticle. This has 5 physical benefits for the hair.

In my free time I am always doing hair. I am always working on portfolio work. And doing photo shoots. Plus I always have some sort of hair piece I'm building for concept or themed photo shoots. Right I am just finishing hand panted African Porcupine quills for a black and white photo shoot coming up.

Best advice ever received?

I constantly get great advice from all sorts of amazing people, young and old. But the best advice I have gotten recently "Find 1 hour of peace and tranquility each day."

Where did you grow up?

I grew up on "The Rez" in Northern Arizona. On the Navajo reservation. Then moved to Salt Lake City area.

What book is currently on your nightstand?

The books I read are almost always technical books. I am currently learning how to program iPhone/IPad applications. I am designing for hairstylist and our clients. But 2 books I always have handy "The hidden message in water" Masaru Emotu and "Dharma Punx" Noah Levine.
Both are great manuals to life I think I have given these books away more than a dozen times

Vegetable you won't touch.

Brussels Sprouts. My grandmother made me eat them till I threw up as a kid. I'm also highly allergic to Kiwi fruit (although I crave it).

Favorite home cooked meal?

Sushi. My friends and family all gather at a large round table making and creating new rolls and garnishes. One of our favorite treats.

Favorite vacation spot?

Kauai. Swimming with sharks, green sea turtles, dolphins and reef fish. Hiking to waterfalls and watching whales

Favorite item in your house?

All the photos of the loved people in my life.

Favorite Starbucks drink?

I like coffee but I don't like Starbucks coffee.

What do you want to say to your future clients?

Grayson has spent more nights in the hospital than at home while undergoing multiple chemo treatments.

I used Von Anthony Salon for my pre -wedding pampering. There were 8 of us for hair and make up and it was the most fun ever! Everyone looked and felt beautiful! They pampered us all morning, with beverages and allowing us to bring in food. All of the stylist and makeup artists were AMAZING! I would highly recommend them for any event where you want to have all your girls together, and the salon is gorgeous for photos! Von Anthony Salon Support Amazon Outreach

Von Anthony Salon is accepting donations to support Amazon Outreach and their upcoming Christmas mission trip to the Amazon River.

The Christmas on the Amazon trip is scheduled for November 11 - 19 where volunteers will transport Christmas presents.

During this trip, villagers will also receive free hair cuts.

This ministry usually has the longest line of people waiting for their turn. Most of the villagers don’t own a pair of scissors so they save their money and paddle hours in a canoe to find a place to get their family’s hair cut.

Here is a list of suggested donations for Christmas presents for this upcoming mission trip.
