A New Orleans native, Carol Ordemann has an extensive art background in graphic design. Her work involves multi-layering, using a variety of mediums, combining geometrics with abstractions to form a realm of color schemes.

She exhibited her paintings in the D Art Slam at the Fashion Industry Gallery in May 2009, and has been featured in the D Magazine.

Her paintings have been displayed in galleries, salons and home furnishings shops in New Orleans, Carmel, CA., and Dallas.






Carol rounds out her painting career as Pilates Instructor and leads an active aerobic lifestyle that includes tennis, running (she has completed 5 marathons), biking and hiking.

How Can I Get Thick, Full Hair?

Do not fear, there are a few handy hints that if followed correctly could see your thin, lack lustre hair transform into something that even the most a-list celeb would be proud of.

Firstly, have a look at the style of your hair. Is your hair cut appropriate for the style of look that you are going for, or is their any style there at all. A good haircut can do wonders for pumping up the volume.

Next you need to reassess the colour of your hair as the right hair colour can give the illusion of thick hair if done correctly. For thick, full locks have highlights strategically added to your hair to give the appearance volume and texture. This works because the colour contrast that highlights provide will give the illusion of depth and fullness. Hair colouring can actually boost the volume of each individual strand of hair as well. The colouring agents actually push open your hair shafts to deposit the new colour so your hair is physically thickened when you colour your hair.

If you want to achieve thick, full locks then you need to prepare your hair at the shampoo and conditioning stage. Look out for volumizing shampoos and conditioners that contain protein-based ingredients as these proteins will work to thicken your individual hair strands. The proteins attach to the individual strands to build up body and fullness. You can also try spraying a volumizing or thickening product through your damp hair before blow drying it.

The blow drying process itself can make a huge difference to the volume and thickness of your hair. You can experiment with using different diffuser attachments that lift up your hair and encourage body and volume.

Von Anthony Salon Collects & Sends Hair For The Gulf Oil Spill Clean-Up - News Segment on WFAA Tonight!

Von Anthony Salon in Frisco has received their shipping instructions from Matter of Trust, a San Francisco-based non-profit, who is turning leftover hair and nail clippings into booms that help mop up oil once it hits the shore.

Owner Kerry Hovland installed a central AirVac system a year ago when Von Anthony Salon was built. It was an eco-friendly idea to conveniently collect hair to be recycled into mats used to clean up oil spills.




Clean hair it transported from the floor/baseboards through a vacuum and collected in a canister at the back of the salon.




Owners Kerry Hovland and Amy Kott-Hovland along with their stylists, are excited to be able to be a part of the clean-up of this disaster.

"We have never been prouder to be salon professionals."






Kerry has shipped two large boxes of hair. Each week Matter of Trust will send the salon a different address to send donated hair.
