Take Charge in the New Year with Bold Color Ideas
The New Year means challenges and opportunities to shine.
Apply this "take charge attitude" to your hair with some bold hair color ideas:
1. Women get into the habit of using tons of foils on their head. Get away from the stripy highlights and go for a more sun kissed/youthful look with a "voilage" effect. The color is not coming directly from the scalp, but more like a couple of inches away.
2. Look to nature for color ideas and incorporate colors from the same tonal family. Two colors creates a funky, more dramatic look. Three colors are very pretty.
3. If you're a blonde, remember it's not how light you are, but how bright and shiny you can look. If your color is too ashy, it will absorb light and look flat. It it's golden, it will reflect the light and look healthy and super shiny.

4. Don't get trapped in your hair color. Don't be afraid to add warmth, sparkle and shine. Chocolate for brunettes and honey for blonds.

Hello 2010! New Year - New Look! Gorgeous Waves
Need a new look for the new year? Here are some ideas to create deep luxurious waves.
1. A waving iron (double barreled iron) from any local beauty supply store is an easy way to style your hair yourself.
2. Or, take half-dollar sections of your dry hair and twist your hair back and forth like ribbon candy. When you get to the top, loop it and stick it with a pin. When all of your hair has been looped, spray it with hair spray and blow dry it for five minutes. Let it cool completely. Take out the loops and your hair will have
gorgeous waves.
3. Take golf ball size portions of your hair and twist them in different directions. One toward your face, one away from your face. Let it air dry. This creates, big, loopy, sexy curls.
For those who already have gorgeous waves:
One of the biggest mistakes woman make is to play with their wavy hair while it's drying (scrunching). This creates friction, which creates frizz.
Instead, here's a technique that will eliminate frizz.
After your shower, apply gel or mousse to your hair. Gel for control or mousse for volume. Take a small section of your hair and use a standard comb with fine, small teeth as if you were going to curl ribbon with a pair of scissors. "Curl"/comb through your hair and when you get to the last half inch, shake the strand of hair. The wave will come through and pops your curls into place. The comb will smooth the
cuticle layer. Let your hair air dry or use a diffuser. A hair dryer is heat and wind, which causes frizz, so be sure to use a diffuser attachment.

Beauty New Year's Resolutions
The new year means a fresh, clean slate!
Here are Amy's Best Hair Tips for 2010 for healthy, beautiful hair that will make you look and feel vibrant and youthful!
1. Look younger by keeping your hair in optimum condition.
2. If your hair is colored, look youthful by incorporating three colors so it doesn't look harsh. One color is boring and two colors can look stripy. Think of the dimension you see in a child's hair color.
5. Bangs: If they are too short, it can age you. Don't use your fringe (bangs)
to hide the wrinkles on your forehead. It's best to wear a fringe open in the temple area. Wearing your fringe curved in toward your cheeks will make your face look wider and shorter. Go more often for a complimentary bang trim.
6. Old styling habits are hard to change. Some people get into the habit of round brushing, when they should be using a paddle brush. Round brushes are good to add volume to the crown area. Imagine wearing a headband. Volume should happen behind the headband. Paddle brushes smooth, provide control and straighten your hair. Don't use a round brush on your fringe (bangs). Too much volume in the fringe is not a current style and can age you.
7. Don't think you have to wear your hair long because you have a fat face. Most women end up pulling their hair up into a pony tail because it's too long.
8. Don't be afraid to cut your hair between the shoulder and just below the chin. This will give you a perky, beautiful look.
9. Headbands are hot. So are simple pins. Pull hair back into a low braid
with a pin adorned with crystals or diamonds. Less is more. Don't overdo it.
10. Take care of your hair buy using the right products. You'll be amazed by how many good hair days you'll have. Get rid of all those old styling products.
