Amy's Tips: Healthy Winter Hair

Tis the season for static, brittle hair and split ends. Most of these issues are from lack of moisture because humidity levels are lower and because of the heat in our homes.

Amy Kott-Hovland of Von Anthony Salon shares these
simple tips:

  1. For static, use a dab of hand cream to control the hair.
  2. Try not to shampoo every day so that some of your natural oils will help control the problem.
  3. Use an ionic hair dryer. This will remove the static charges and will dry the hair without taking out too much moisture. Ionic hair driers leave your hair shiny and smooth.
  4. Try spraying static guard on your hair brushes.

Salon Solutions

  1. Get your hair trimmed more frequently to avoid split ends.
  2. We do deep conditioning treatments to keep your hair in optimum condition; these are a must for the client who does not want to cut their hair.
  3. At Von Anthony Salon, we use Shu Uemura Prep Sprays which gives hair proper moisture balance. There are 3 to choose from:
    1. Smoothing for frizzier hair types.
    2. Reparative for color treated.
    3. Moisture for any hair type.

Use these before you blow dry or to moisten hair, in between shampoos; These are perfect for children's hair as well.
