Spring, 2013 Hair Trends

Amy Kott-Hovland, owner of Von Anthony Salon in Frisco share the following Spring Hair Trends for 2013.

Spring has sprung! And with it, the return of waves in hair. Oribe Après spray is the perfect product to encourage your hair into this hot look.

A deep side part is a great way to update your hair at any length.Hair is styled away from the face. Low pony tails and chignons are both being worn very sleek and deconstructed, but the hair looks very healthy and shiny. Polish and style with one of Kerastase Elixers.

Styling tip: Hair is styled away from the face not towards it. If using a curling iron or wand place it behind your hair a wrap hair away from your face.

I have seen a lot of short to mid length shapes, clients really seem to want to cut a bit of length to feel fresh and perky for spring.

Hair color is sun kissed and shiny!

Amy's Top Oscar Picks For 2012

Amy Kott Hovland, Owner of Von Anthony Salon, Frisco shares her favorite looks from the 2012 Oscars.

I hands down pick Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford. That structured dress with a low pony perfect make up and that cuff on her wrist was a jaw dropping look.

I also loved Viola Davis is that form fitting green gown from Vera Wang.
With her short hair shape worn in its natural state. Breathtaking Beautiful.

Rooney Mara hair great hair a bold lip in Givenchy with No Accessories!! I know not everyone would like this but I could have looked at her all night!

I loved Michelle Williams with her cropped blonde hair in a very pretty corally red tulle Louis Vuitton gown.

Milla Jovovich had a beautiful up- do.

George Clooney was easy on the eyes as always. Men and women always love his hair.

Amy's Favorite Oscar Looks, 2011

I Love love Gweneth Paltrow in Calvin Kliens chic geomtic gown with stick straight hair. Very modern!

Also I love Robert Downey Jr. head to toe. Old Hollywood glam style loosened up a bit. Hair sculpted without hard lines and his tie just a little loose make this look fantastic.

Reese's hair is so Perfect with her white trimmed gown WOW!

Halle Berry's hair is short chic and works both day and night.

Favorite couple hands down Matthew Mcconaughey and girlfriend Camila Alves. So sexy. Her center parted chignon with his sleek hairstyle complemented one another perfectly!

Omgosh- Nicole Kiddman needs a new stylist that's if she had one to start! Awful!!!

Penelope Cruz was flawless in her Armani dress with wavy hair pinned
back on one side. (just like Melissa's hair in our CW33 seg)

And Nicole Kidman's sexy side sweep low chignon was very beautiful and
also reminiscent of Rachel's hair on Fox Good Day.

Amy Kott-Hovland's First Beauty Icon

Who was your first beauty icon? Vidal Sassoon.

Sassoon is an icon in our industry.

He made sense of hair cutting: how to create geometric shapes on a round service.

He invented the bob and became internationally know after cutting Mia Farrows hair for the movie Rosemary’s Baby, it was a very short almost crew shape.

Prior to Vidal, woman would get their hair cut mostly with a razor and had it set for the week; he truly changed the way hair is worn.

I have attended his academies over the years to perfect my craft. We implement his techniques with all of our stylists in our work shops.

Precision cuts are back in fashion and the bob will never go out of style.
