Bouffants Are Back! Tips for achieving volume for this daring and fashion forward style

One of the hottest trends for Fall 2010 are Bouffants!

The bouffant, the piled-high hairstyle popularized in the late '50s and early '60s, is back!

Here are some tips from Amy Kott Hovland, Owner of Von Anthony Salon for achieving volume for this daring and fashion forward style.

1. Use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner

2. Apply a volumizing gel mousse or spray at the root area of damp hair. If applied when hair is really wet it will dilute the product.

3. Dry hair by flipping your hair upside down and use your fingers or a vented brush to direct hair away from its natural growth pattern

4. Tease hair in crown area in 2 inch sections and work downward. Hold hair up straight by the ends and then place a small bristle brush at the ends and drag the hair down to the roots and away. Repeat until you create a 3 inch base. Gently brush the hair on top to mask the teasing. This technique can also be used by first putting hair into a ponytail as well.

5. Curling hair also helps with volume. Lift and direct sections of hair towards the mirror then curl hair away. This creates a lot of lift at the scalp area.

6. Adding clip in hair extensions is also an option.
